Joshua Fairchild
Achivements:Joshua joined the club in 2006 and has worked his way through the squads from the learn to swim programme up to Senior performance were he still trains on a regular basis. Joshua competes in the S14 disability category as well as an able bodied swimmer and has achieved a large collection of medals over the years. His main achievements however have been in the Disability classifications where he has swam at Midlands, National and International meets. His first international meet was in Glasgow 2016 where he competed in the British Para International meet (Road to Rio), not only did he get the opportunity to compete against the top Para swimmers he also made several finals and gained personnel bests in all his events. Joshua has won two Bronze medals (2015 & 2017) at the Summer Nationals, both in his favourite event the 200m Freestyle . Joshua has also gained several qualifications in swimming including:- ASA Level 1 Award in Teaching Aquatics and Coaching Swimming, ASA Young volunteers award, British Swimming Time Keeper Award & National Rescue award for swimming teachers and coaches. Joshua is currently working towards his Swim England level 2 Award in coaching swimming.
Other:Joshua is studying his level three Btec in Sports at Hereward College after successfully completed his level 2 during the past two years. He has volunteered on Friday club nights for over 3 years and continues to teach level 7 or support any group when needed. He taught an adult improvers group for over a year and now coaches the older pathways squad and the older Junior club squad.
